Fire Door Anatomy

Before release

Independently reviewed

Before Fire Door Anatomy went live, the content of every component and the fire test was independently reviewed by multiple sources: two technical reviews, by two separate consultancies. This page says what each was, what they raised, and what was done with it. The reviewers are not named here for now.

The reviews

Product and release-readiness review

An independent technical consultancy. 27 August 2026. 42 pages.

General commentary, then page-by-page redlines of every component. The markup layer alone carries 89 markups: 51 strike-outs and 38 highlights, each reconciled against the content.

Technical review

A second, separate technical consultancy. 27 August 2026. 92 pages.

Supplementary technical input, alongside the first review.

What they raised

The two reviews were reconciled into one register of 59 points and 8 cross-cutting decisions. 10 points concern the interface, the 3D assembly and how the fire test presents itself. 49 concern the content: the door leaf, the frame and certification (16), the intumescent and smoke seals (9), the hardware (15), and glazing, signage and the fire test (9). Every point is recorded against the page of the review it came from.

Where the two reviews differed, or a review differed from the brief the product was built to, the register records which line was taken and why. There are 8 such decisions, covering timber charring, latches, hinges, the seals, closers connected to detection, the current edition of BS 8214, certification evidence and the routes by which an existing door may hold test evidence.

How they were handled

10 of 10 interface points are implemented. Of the 49 content points, 46 are implemented, 2 wait on a new 3D asset, and 1 was not added pending confirmation. 6 of the implemented points carry a figure or a citation that is deliberately hedged until it has been confirmed against the current edition of the standard, and 1 point was investigated and left as it was, with the reason recorded.

Where a figure could not be traced to a standard or a code of practice, it was removed rather than kept. Where a real figure has a range, the content gives the range. The fire test simulates BS EN 1634-1 and nothing else, and labels its failure times and face temperatures as indicative, on screen.

About the register

The register maps every change back to the page of the review it answers. It lives with the source code, which is not public, so it is summarised here rather than linked. A read-through of the rewritten lessons by both reviewers is recommended before the next release.

Fire Door Anatomy is an introduction to fire doors, not the whole subject. Finishing it evidences participation, not competence.
